Living Healthy Workshops

Senior Resource Alliance (SRA)-Area Agency on Aging of Central Florida is pleased to announce upcoming 6-week Living Healthy and Living Healthy with Diabetes Workshops. These workshops are FREE to attend but space is limited so register early. More workshops are being planned every day in your community so I encourage you to contact me regarding those.

Living Healthy Workshop Schedule ~ *The Living Healthy (CDSMP**) is a 6-week workshop where people with different chronic conditions, such as arthritis, hypertension, COPD and heart disease, attend together and develop the skills needed in the day-to-day management of their conditions with a goal of maintaining and/or increasing life’s activities. The curriculum supports self-managed behavior modification and coping strategies to enable participants to better manage their health condition(s), medications, and increase physical activity levels.

Living Healthy with Diabetes Workshop Schedule ~ *The Living Healthy with Diabetes (DSMP**) is a 6-week workshop for people with type 2 diabetes. It teaches the skills needed in the day-to-day management of diabetes and to maintain and/or increase life’s activities. This workshop supports participants in developing the skills needed in the day-to-day management of type 2 diabetes. The curriculum supports self-managed behavior modification and coping strategies to enable participants to manage their type 2 diabetes, food choices, medications, and increase physical activity levels.

Matter of Balance 8 session Workshop Schedule ~ *The Matter of Balance “Managing Concerns about Falls” is an 8-session workshop that is either in a 4-week, twice a week or 8-week, once a week form. Each session is 2 hours long and is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.
