The Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) takes an active role in supporting and promoting lifelong learning programs in Central Florida.  We hope the list of lifelong learning providers below will help you connect with a fun and meaningful learning opportunity for you!

In addition, SRA nationally distributes learning programs on: pre-retirement and midlife planning; aging issues with a family focus; and challenges of working caregivers.

When Alzheimer’s disease touches your life, the Alzheimer’s Association is here to help.  Our non-profit organization has 300 points of service to provide support to people with Alzheimer’s, their families and caregivers.  We also offer education and training programs to care providers to help them deliver better dementia care and improve quality of life for people living with Alzheimer’s.

Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center is a nonprofit organization.  They offer Programs such as Silent retreats, Icon writing retreats, Personal Growth retreats for individuals and couples, Artists’, Retreats, Scrap booking Retreats, Quilting workshops and much more.  A wide array of Elderhostel programs are held at Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center.    Elderhostel is a non-profit organization committed to being the preeminent provider of high quality, affordable, educational opportunities for older adults.  Elderhostel programs are open to people age 55+ as well as their accompanying spouses or adult companions (age 21+).  Elderhostel is a great way to travel, learn something new, exchange ideas and make new friends with active, interesting people.

Hospice of the Comforter is a community-based, non-profit Hospice serving terminally ill patients in Seminole, Orange and Osceola Counties since 1990.
Hospice of the Comforter offers a special kind of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice care seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their days may be spent with dignity and quality, at home or in a home-like setting.  Hospice of the Comforter offers many grief support groups and learning programs for the public.

The Learning Institute for Elders (LIFE) at the University of Central Florida offers a curriculum designed to energize and stimulate thinking.  Topics range from music to women’s studies, diversity to international affairs, and art to finances.  Members pay a modest annual fee for coursework.  Membership includes the University of Central Florida student benefits, such as use of the library, admission to theatre events, and admission to sporting events.

Shepherd’s Center of Melbourne, Inc. is an interfaith not-for-profit organization that features educational and social programs called, “Adventures in Learning”.  Adventures in Learning is an adult learning program that is specifically designed for the needs of adults 55 years of age and older who are in their retirement years.  Classes are tailored to help one keep mentally fit, physically fit, and to keep growing together spiritually.
Shepherd’s Center of Melbourne uses the buildings of its sponsoring congregations located in the north Melbourne area as classrooms for this program.  Since Adventures in Learning is operated on weekdays during the daytime, it is able to make use of classroom space that would otherwise be vacant.
